2.10m in garbsen and 2.08m in duisburg and then...broke shoe

well, what a week...after jumping 2.10m in garbsen last week my right foot started to hurt pretty bad so i had to rest for three days...after that i decided to jump again, this time in duisburg.
i didnt feel good at all and as soon as i started my warm-up it started to rain...great timing!
especially for me 'cause i jump with custimized long jump shoes...and thats pretty slippery on wet grounds.
but i did want to jump so i open at 2.02m, followed by 2.05m and 2.08m which i cleared nice and easy...only problem: i ripped off the heel of my shoe which kept me from doing more jumps...

i wont compete this weekend to give the foot some rest because i still hurts soooo much and i will fix my old shoe and i will get a new one too...

my next competition will be next wednesday in wipperfuerth and i will jump at least 2.15m there!

i am also looking forward to next week because my friend hans form nimbia is coming to germany to do some competitions and training...i think we will have a lot of fun together!

good bye

2.10m in bremen

today i had my first competition since may 1st and i was slightly better.
we almost had perfect weather just a little too much head wind but besides that i was a good day to jump!

i had a good warm-up so i decided to start at 2.05m. i jumped it in my 1st attempt to continue with 2.10m. i dont know why i didnt clear my first attempt but the second one was kinda nice...the next height was 2.14m but somehow all my power and the good feeling i had before where gone so the first jump was bad, the second a bit better and the third one was ok but i knocked it down with my heels.

anyways, im really looking forward to tomorrows meeting in garbsen cause im sure that i'll jump a lot higher!!

till then...no worries!

it's been a long time

it really has been a long time since my last post but i didnt have sth. positive to write so i didnt write a all...but now i'm pain free since sunday and did some nice jumps yesterday and today that gave me some confidence after it was a real struggle during the last 4 weeks.

now i'm really looking forward to this weekend 'cause i will jump in bremen on saturday and in garbsen on sunday...and it should be good!

well, i'll try to update this more often now!

thanks for your patience!

sometimes you get what you deserve...or you dont!

well, i gotta say...i didnt think i would jump the way i did today!!!

after i changed plans for todays competition like 3 times i finally decided to go to cologne today to compete there...and to my surprise, we had really good conditions!!

to make it quick: i started at 2.05m, cleared it in my 2nd attempt and then missed 2.10m 3 times! but i had 2 good jumps but no luck today!

anyway, i just hope that my shin splints go away somehow so that i will be able to train properly again next week!!

and btw, my next competition will be next weekend, but i didnt decide where i will go!

"i'm out of here, motherf*****s"

sometimes you just can't jump

on days like this you lose your confidence...i wasn't able to train as i wanted to during the last two weeks 'cause my right shinbone started hurting again! i am not really sure what is causing the pain but it won't go away!!

after 15 weeks of good training with almost no health issues it is really frustrating to have this kind of pain again...but i am still confident that all the hard work will pay off this season!

today i didn't have that much pain so i decided to jump again but it was really crappy. i felt like i was doing high jump for the 1st time today and it wasn't a good feeling!

anyways i am having my 1st competition next thursday and my expectations are diffrent than 2 weeks ago...but a lot can happen in a weeks time!!

more media

since i couldn't sleep last night i worked on an additional website with a lot of contents.

i will continue to work on the site the next couple of days and it'll probably go online on thursday or friday...it will contain a lot of videos, stats and my work-out-programs.

i hope you will enjoy it!

improving...

on days like this you build up your confidence...before i started my highjump session this afternoon i had to attend classes again, which was suprisingly pleasant!!

when i did my training shedule for this week yesterday i planned on jumping on tuesday but when i woke up this morning i felt pretty good so i decided to jump today.

after 3 classes from 9.30am to 2.30pm my legs got a little tired 'cause i had to stand in the subway all the way from the university to my place but i thought 'wth...i'm gonna jump anyway!!" so i went to the track, did a little warm-up and started jumping.

i jumped from a 5-step approach again and started at 1.80m and raised the bar 5cm after every cleared jump. i had my first miss at 2.05m but managed to clear it really nice 2 times. then i had another miss at 2.10m but jumped it twice aswell...i did three attempst at 2.12m and one attempt at 2.15m which were good but the bar didn't stay on.

all in all it was a really good session because i never cleared 2.10m from a 5-step approach before!!

back from valencia

today i got back to leverkusen after spending 5 days in the lovely city of valencia/spain...even though i couldn't train as i planned i still think that the trip will pay off.
we (fellow jumpers from my club) stayed in a small village called el saler just outside valencia. the hotel was nothing fancy but there wasn't anything to complain about.

the hotel was about 1km away from the beach and an old track which we used for short
and easy sessions. we did our main training at the 'estadi el turia' in the middle of valencia. it is a
really nice track but it took some time to get used to the mondo surface.

all in all i did 7 sessions in 5 days including 2 highjump sessions from a 5 step-approach where i was able to clear 2.05m easily.

next two weeks i will train as hard as possible again before taking it a little easier considering
that i will have my 1st competition on may 1st.

join me on my journey

everything is possible...that's the motto for the 2008 outdoor season!

i decided to create this thing so you can be a part of my '08 season...and i also wanted to share my passion for highjump!

so...feel free to read, watch and comment all the stuff
that's going on during the next days, weeks and months...it's gonna be exciting!
